Health care in most western and developed countries is hospital centered with most of the health providers and resources concentrated in the hospital. This model makes access to health care, whether emergency or routine, dependent upon closeness to the hospital, having available transportation, and the time of arrival to a hospital or doctor’s office. Notwithstanding the limitation of this model for persons who are elderly, disabled, without proper transportation, or who live in remote and rural areas, Covid 19 has accentuated the limitations of this model for various disasters, disorders, and infectious diseases. VHS advocates that the home should be prepared as the primary location to receive emergency and routine health care before having to spends valuable time, travel, and money to arrive at a hospital emergency waiting room. We believe that technology provides us the opportunity to modify the existing health care infrastructure and allows delivery and acceptance of quality health care for everyone in their home.
